Awasi Atacama, located in the desert town of San Pedro, is a peaceful and private lodge, hidden away behind traditional adobe walls, featuring just 12 suites.
Each suite comes with its own guide and 4WD vehicle to take guests on incredible private excursions into the Atacama Desert. The design of the suites was inspired by pre-Incan ruins, constructed in adobe style with a thatch roof, keeping them nice and cool, and with a private patio and al fresco shower. The lodge is all about comfort and simplicity.
Days are spent discovering the wonders of this extraordinary region in Chile, from adventures in otherworldly landscapes to introductions to Andean culture. More than 2,500 metres above sea level, the Atacama Desert's scenery is completely kaleidoscopic: red volcanoes, golden dunes, turquoise lagoons and shimmering salt-flats. There is never a set plan - each day is spent entirely as you wish, enjoying beautiful drives, hikes, bird-watching, cycling and stargazing. Settling into a huge armchair with an alpaca rug and a good book is also highly encouraged!
Evenings are spent in total relaxation, enjoying a dip in the pool, sipping Chilean wine by the firepit with a sky full of stars overhead, and dining at Awasi's Relais&Chateaux restaurant. The restaurant is open-air, specialising in Andean fare using fresh local ingredients. We recommend booking a cookery class with the chef if you have time!
