Six Senses Laamu is set on a stunning atoll in the southern Maldives, a beautiful castaway island of white-sand beaches shaded by towering palm trees, offering endless views across the Indian Ocean.
To reach the remote island, you can travel by boat or small plane, arriving in paradise and letting your worries wash away.
The Maldives are known for their extraordinary marine life, and guests will have a good chance of spotting dolphins and green turtles, diving alongside rays and reef sharks, and snorkelling to spot parrotfish and colourful coral reefs.
Six Senses Laamu is involved in a number of Marine Conservation initiatives, working in partnership with various foundations on key local projects that will help to protect the natural world.
Visiting the Maldives is all about relaxing in a serene natural setting. Days are spent exploring at leisure; island hopping for private beach picnics, snorkelling and diving with expert instructors, surfing, catamaran sailing, fishing, or simply lazing in a shaded hammock with a good book.
I would recommend escaping by boat to a private sandbank for a delicious private lunch, or taking a Dhoni cruise at sunset when the sky and ocean turn a myriad of colours.
For young families, there are lots of activities to enjoy, such as beach volleyball and football, island treasure hunts, movie nights on the beach, Finding Nemo snorkelling adventures, cooking classes, and the Den Children’s Club.
Six Senses Laamu specilailse in wellness experiences to enhance the castaway island escape experience. Treatments are enjoyed in beautiful private thatch domes, peaceful cocoons where you can relax and dedicate your time to your wellness, choosing from full body massages to Ayurveda treatments, facials, scrubs and yoga and meditation classes.
Accommodation at Six Senses Laamu is luxurious and rustic-chic; private villas are positioned on the beachfront with private gardens (best for families), or raised over the water on stilts, with views of the lagoon or ocean.
Each villa has a spacious deck with comfortable day beds where you can relax, sunbathe and snooze to the sounds of the ocean, then jump into the water to cool off. The villas have various special features; upper decks with comfortable seating to take in stunning ocean views, glass-bottomed sunken bathtubs, overwater hammocks and outdoor rain-showers.
With the Ocean Water Villas, you can choose from 'sunset' or 'sunrise' views, and some villas have their own private overwater swimming pool.
There are larger family villas with two bedrooms, private pools and gorgeous outdoor dining and lounge spaces - give us a call to discuss which villa is best suited to you.
There are endless dining options at Six Senses Laamu...
Leaf’s: Maldivian cuisine served in a peaceful setting, a raised thatch palapa above the beach and organic garden...
Zen: exquisite Japanese fusion cuisine enjoyed on an upper deck with a stunning ocean view...
Chill Bar: signature cocktails, oversized cushions and a beautiful over-water setting with a resident DJ...
Longitude: open-air restaurant serving a la carte grilled meats, locally caught fish and Asian inspired dishes...
Sip Sip: a sunken bar by the swimming pool, serving pizzas, burgers, juices and cocktails...
For a private dining experience, I recommend the 5-course dinner at the Garden Chili Table, surrounded by the organic garden, or a beach bbq; a grilled seafood feast is served at your own secluded beach dining table, encircled by tiki torches, just steps from the ocean, with a beautiful soundtrack of waves lapping the shore. Arrive in time for sunset, and dine by firelight under a canopy of stars.
