Harbour Island is a dazzling gem in the Bahamas, with pink sand beaches, idyllic pastel-painted wooden houses and bright turquoise waters. Bahama House, an 11-bedroom private beach retreat with beautiful bay views, is perfect to take over exclusively with your family or a group of friends.
The bedrooms are spread across The 1800 Building, The Annex and two Cottages.
The house style is rustic-chic with classic Caribbean style. Bahama House, draped with brightly coloured bougainvillea, overlooks a private freshwater swimming pool with underwater speakers, jet tub, and garden with plenty of outdoor lounge space.
The rooms are all spacious and beautifully appointed with a combination of contemporary furniture and a number of vintage and heritage pieces, and some include balcony or veranda space with lovely views to the bay, harbour or garden.
The cottages enjoy even more space and these are wonderful for extra privacy.
Two popular features are the handcrafted rum bar and authentic outdoor Tiki Bar, where delicious cocktails are served from 11am-8pm and there’s an extensive collection of rare rums from all over the world.
Life is typically laid-back but days can be very adventurous, with as much to explore inland as off-shore. The house is well located for enjoying local culture, just minutes from some of the best restaurants and live music bars on the island in Dunmore Town.
The house comes with a 35-ft Scorpion RIB boat and captain for exploring along the coastline and neighbouring islands.
We can arrange privately guided activities and day trips, including scuba diving, snorkelling, wake boarding, sailing, deep sea fishing and bone fishing (mid-November to June).
Peaceful beach picnics can be set up under the shade of a parasol and the quiet beaches lend themselves perfectly to leisurely strolls or horse riding in the shallows.
There are some beautiful natural swimming pools inland, and exhilarating cliff jumps along the coastline.
In the evenings, as well as recommending our top local restaurants, we can arrange for a private chef to prepare exquisite dinners including island specialties, such as fresh seafood feasts, conch fritters and jerk pork.
