Heckfield Place, Hook, Hampshire, England

Recently opened, Heckfield Place is a luxury rural escape set in 400 acres of rolling English countryside, painstakingly restored and transformed from a historic 18th Century Georgian manor house into an elegant and peaceful country house hotel and spa.

Heckfield Place

The vast red-bricked building, adorned with glistening white window and door frames and original towering chimneys, is incredibly impressive on first sight. I’d never seen a hotel that I’d liked so much that I wanted my home to look like it! For a country escape or a romantic treat, it is absolutely ideal. Only an hour’s drive out of London, Heckfield Place is the perfect fit for a weekend minibreak from the big smoke, whilst for those living in the countryside, its secluded location and luxurious offerings provide desirable respite from the usual routine!

Heckfield Place

I couldn’t recommend Heckfield Place more highly for those in search of delicious food, gorgeous views and pampering spa treatments. It is also very encouraging to have ex-AMAN staff on management - GM Olivia Richli is at the helm, ensuring service and experience are absolutely exceptional. And for an incredibly special wedding, book out the whole place for the most beautiful, romantic setting.

On arrival, take a stroll through 400 acres of private grounds and lakes (wild swimming for those who dare); picturesque lawns, walled gardens filled with fragrant roses, wild woodland and heather-thick vales.

Cuisine at Heckfield Place is spectacular and the menu was one of the most exciting I’ve tried in the region. Guests dine on Home Farm produce, fresh garden vegetables and seasonal orchard fruits in either Marle Restaurant or Hearth, where you can see your meal cooked to perfection over an open fire. Culinary Director, Skye Gyngell (Petersham Nurseries), has created an imaginative menu, using seasonal ingredients, most of which are grown on the estate.

Hearth, the estate’s former stables, is a beautiful, light and airy space of open-brick walls and marble and slate surface tops with open fires for cooking. Guests settle into its relaxed, warm space, dining on long dark-wood tables, watching the chefs at work whilst sipping on smoky reds and admiring the views across the grounds and lake beyond. Hearth leads out to a pretty courtyard for al fresco dining on milder evenings.

Enjoy hand-crafted cocktails in an intimate setting at Moon Bar, followed by a delicious gourmet dinner at Marle. You’ll notice many of the ingredients have been picked that day from Home Farm. Heckfield Place wine cellar is also very impressive with a wide collection of Old and New World wines. We’ll happily arrange private tastings with the resident sommelier for beginners and experts.

Every room is stylish and comfortable with natural tones, giving each room a really homely ambience plus an extra special sense of retreat. Furnishings are all beautiful, a clever mix of old and new, from the King-sized beds, soft throws and linens, hand-carved furniture and oak floors, to the owner’s private art collection decorating the walls and a specially chosen book collection filling the bedroom shelfs - a stay feels like a real gift. Call our team to discuss the best bedroom or suite for you – some have open fires, deep-soaking tubs, little balconies or private gardens with firepits.

A country retreat should be, if anything, spoiling. Treat yourself to a natural wellness treatment or yoga and Pilates experiences at the Little Bothy Spa, a cosy, safe and relaxing space, secluded within the property grounds. There’s also a screening room for exclusive movie nights with a curated programme especially for Heckfield Place guests.
