Located in Mayfair, one of London’s most seductive addresses, Flemings luxury boutique hotel couldn’t boast a better setting, virtually across the road from gorgeous Green Park – perfect for leafy morning strolls.
What I particularly love about Flemings is how sweet and friendly the wonderful GM and staff are. They make guests feel instantly relaxed and at home, unlike some London addresses that can feel far too stuffy - rather like entering a museum. That’s not to say Flemings isn’t visually spectacular – it is a work of art in itself and after a show-stopping £15m investment, the interior design and artwork are completely stunning.
Flemings operates a brilliant concierge service, really looking after Mason Rose Private clients to ensure access to the hottest tickets and restaurant reservations in town. From assisting with the smallest of queries to organising incredibly memorable day trips filled with sight-seeing, theatre and fine-dining, the concierge team knows London inside out and keeps a keen eye on the latest openings. Flemings is a stone’s throw from some of the big smoke’s top restaurants, designer shops and world-famous clubs – be sure to explore by foot, taking in the inimitable Mayfair ambience.
Ormer Mayfair is Flemings’s hugely popular restaurant by Michelin-starred chef Shaun Rankin. Consistently rated as one of the top 10 restaurants in London for fine dining, the menu is inspired by Rankin’s love of the Channel Islands and offers seasonal produce to reflect this, such as fresh lobster and crab, hand dived scallops and Jersey royals. All the food and wine throughout my stay were faultless and I particularly enjoyed the most delicious smoked salmon and scrambled eggs for breakfast on brioche toast. There’s a great little bar downstairs, Manetta’s, where I’d recommend indulging in a relax-and-recharge tipple before painting the town red. Plush décor and low lighting add to its fabulous, speakeasy atmosphere and it offers a stellar cocktail list to match.
Room rates are very reasonable and with 8 categories to choose from, it works well whether you’re travelling alone just for the night and in need of a pied-a-terre, or if you’re spending a week on holiday with the whole family and looking for a comfortable base with plenty of space (two-bedroom apartments with full kitchens including a washer/dryer are perfect for families).
Every bedroom is beautifully decorated, contemporary in style with a hint at the glamour of 1930’s Mayfair. Soft tones, bespoke furniture, spacious en-suite bathrooms and luxurious features (heated marble mosaic floors and walk-in rainfall showers) make these rooms perfect for a spoiling London city-break. One-Bedroom Suites are exquisitely designed, each with a secluded entrance to ensure additional privacy, as well as spacious living areas, dining areas and kitchens. The two-bedroom suites are even more lavish in style, with ample space to sleep up to 6 guests. If you’re really feeling like splashing out, the huge two-bedroom penthouse suite offers the height of luxury with a private terrace, outdoor dining area and private direct lift access.
Flemings really is a gem of a hotel and I highly recommend it for its central location, brilliant staff and exquisite rooms. And the cherry on top? They put Jaffa Cakes in our room – my absolute favourite!
Every time I explore a new destination, whether it’s on an adventure holiday in Peru or a luxury beach escape in the Indian Ocean, I return home full of excitement to share the amazing sights I have seen. Through my own experiences I have developed a love of helping others experience the great wonders of the world; truly getting under the skin of the extraordinary destinations that are at your fingertips. Getting the details right, from which hotel is perfectly located for exploring away from the crowds, to which local guide is most knowledgeable on history or culture or art, is of paramount importance to me. I am constantly seeking out new and exciting experiences and exploring off the beaten track to ensure my clients are receiving the best and most honest first-hand advice.
